On May 27, APPLY took part in SEB online conference “Signāls uzņēmējiem”, where Agnis Jakubovičs, Founder and CEO of our company, and Valts Jakubovičs, Executive Director and Co-owner, shared a practical view on how AI is being used in real business environments today.
Across industries, one pattern was clear: AI creates value when it is tied to a clearly defined operational problem.
In practice, this includes making forest biomass inventory 5–10 times faster, reducing container loading checks from a full day to around one hour, using robotic systems for mixed cargo handling, and automating quality control of wood chip deliveries using sensor data, and many other solutions critical for business operations.
The common factor is not the technology itself, but the clarity of the problem before implementation starts.
That is why structured implementation matters – starting with clear goals and KPIs, followed by phased development through proof of concept, prototyping, and scaling.
AI is also increasingly becoming part of everyday work. Teams are starting to use AI assistants like Claude to support office productivity – for example helping with document drafting, structuring reports, or working with Excel and presentation materials in a more efficient way. Alongside that, automation tools like Make are being used to connect different systems and automate routine workflows such as email processing, data transfer, or response generation – making these capabilities accessible even for smaller teams.
