We\u2019re excited to be developing Latvia\u2019s first AI-powered forest inventory prototype in collaboration with Timbro<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 a leading forestry technology company.<\/p>\n

Our solution uses computer vision to automate the collection and interpretation of forest audit data. The goal? To make the process up to 10 times faster and reduce human error to as low as 3% – addressing both efficiency and the shortage of skilled specialists in the forestry sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn our solution, we use computer vision, which allows computers to analyze and interpret visual information from images or video similarly to human sight. But unlike humans, artificial intelligence can\u2019t immediately distinguish a rock from a bush \u2013 in computer vision, both appear as the same \u2018point cloud\u2019,\u201d explains Agnis Jakubovics<\/strong><\/a>, founder of Apply.<\/p>\n

By combining LiDAR, GNSS, and computer vision, we\u2019re creating a tool that supports foresters in tasks like tree counting, species recognition, and volume estimation \u2013 paving the way for smarter, faster, and more sustainable forest management.<\/p>\n
